Meet Dr. Katie Helfvogt

Chiropractor McHenry County, Dr. Katie Helfvogt“Growing up I would go the doctor for any sniffle or sneeze, and I can’t tell you how many times I took a prescription in my younger years.” As she reached an age where she could decide what type of health care she wanted, Dr. Katie opted for natural, holistic care. “I want to be able to provide that same drug-free care to my practice members.”

Getting to the Cause

Dr. Katie wants to let people know that there are options out there besides just taking something to cover up their symptoms. She wants to get to the root cause of what’s going on. “With chiropractic, the innate intelligence of the body is used to heal itself rather than covering something up.”

Education and Training

Graduating as valedictorian of her class at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa is one of Dr. Katie’s greatest personal successes. While there, she also was inducted into the Vogt Leadership Society. It was a peer-nominated position.

She also practiced under one of the pediatric doctors there, which contributed to her developing an interest in focusing on pediatrics and pregnancy. Dr. Katie is certified in the Webster Technique and has done additional courses through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. She also will be taking classes in geriatric chiropractic to address the needs of seniors.

A Memorable Success Story

One of Dr. Katie’s patients was a 12-year-old girl who came in for bedwetting issues that she struggled with ever since she was little. Her mom tried everything under the sun. “When she finally came in, we discussed what her care options were and I started to adjust the girl. Within two visits it was a night and day difference for her.” Because of the care Dr. Katie provided, the girl was able to lead a normal lifestyle, including going on sleepovers. “It made me proud to be part of the process.”

On a Personal Note

When she’s not working at Mobile Motion Chiropractic, Dr. Katie enjoys running and being active, cooking and baking. She also likes spending time with her fur baby, a Bichon Frise. A favorite quote of Dr. Katie’s that was influential throughout her schooling is by Earl Nightingale: “Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.”

When she was choosing whether or not to go to chiropractic school, Dr. Katie came across that quote, and it really hit home with her. It was the reason why she chose to become a chiropractor. She has the passage on a sticky note and looks at it every day as a reminder. “I can correlate that quote with my practice members in regard to health care, weight loss, education, career and other goals.”
